The role:
At Clarins, retail is at the heart of our brand experience. As the Retail Excellence Manager for APAC, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening store-level profitability, improving conversion, and driving Beauty Consultant productivity across our network of ~300 doors and 75 boutiques in Asia Pacific.
Working closely with regional and market teams, you will establish a data-driven retail operating model that standardizes store playbooks, embeds performance cadences, and scales best practices across priority markets including Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Australia, China, and Japan.
This role will combine retail operations expertise, strong analytics, and cross-functional influence to diagnose performance gaps, pilot high-impact initiatives, and scale solutions that drive measurable business results.
What you’ll do:
Retail Performance & Store Profitability
- Drive store-level CEBIT improvement and profitability across APAC retail markets.
- Build and maintain standardized store P&L dashboards and KPI tracking including conversion, traffic, average basket, labour productivity, and profitability.
- Partner with Finance and Retail Directors to monitor performance and identify improvement opportunities.
Retail Playbooks & Operational Excellence
- Develop and deploy APAC retail playbooks and SOPs, including:
- Conversion optimization
- Daily store operations
- Merchandising execution
- Clientelling standards
- New store ramp-up
- Ensure consistent adoption across priority markets through clear governance and tracking.
Performance Cadence & Governance
- Establish structured retail performance rhythms including:
- Weekly performance tracking and exception management
- Monthly KPI reviews with market retail leaders
- Quarterly performance deep dives with APAC leadership
- Drive accountability and execution discipline across markets.
Pilot Programs & Continuous Improvement
- Conduct targeted diagnostics to identify store performance gaps.
- Design and lead high-impact pilots to improve conversion, clientelling, and store productivity.
- Measure ROI and scale successful initiatives across markets.
Clientelling & Retail Tools Adoption
- Operationalize C-Link clientelling usage across frontline teams.
- Define minimum activity standards and track adoption and impact on repeat purchase and customer engagement.
New Store Ramp & Retail Projects
- Support successful launches of new retail locations using standardized ramp-up frameworks.
- Monitor early performance and provide corrective actions where needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Retail, Sales, Finance, Training, Marketing, Retail Tech, and Global Retail teams to implement operational improvements.
- Influence market stakeholders to align on regional retail excellence initiatives.
What you have:
Experience
- 6–10 years of experience in retail operations, retail excellence, or store performance management
- Proven track record improving store profitability, conversion, or productivity
- Experience managing multi-market retail networks in APAC
Retail & Operational Expertise
- Hands-on experience designing and deploying retail SOPs or operational playbooks
- Exposure to new store openings and ramp-up management
- Strong understanding of store-level retail KPIs and commercial drivers
Data & Analytics
- Strong analytical skills with ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Experience building dashboards and analysing retail KPIs using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Ability to influence stakeholders across markets and functions without direct authority
- Strong project management skills with experience delivering pilot programs and scaling initiatives
Language & Regional Exposure
- Fluent in English
- Additional Asian language (Mandarin / Japanese) is a plus
