We are looking for a Head of Human Resources, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The role:
As Head of Human Resources, Malaysia, you will lead the country people agenda and act as strategic partner to the General Manager, with a functional reporting line to the Human Resources Director, Asia Pacific. You will build a strong, agile and engaged organisation while ensuring effective HR operations, compliance and employee experience, leading a team of three and the office administration function.
What you’ll do:
Strategic HR Leadership & Business Partnership
- Define and execute the Malaysia people strategy; advise the General Manager and leadership team on organisation design, workforce planning, talent, employee relations and change; and lead the annual HR budget and three-year people plan.
- Use people analytics, digitalisation and process improvement to strengthen organisational agility, HR efficiency and the employee experience.
Talent Acquisition, Performance & Development
- Oversee end-to-end recruitment for frontline and retail roles, partner with the Regional Talent Acquisition team on office hiring, and strengthen employer branding and talent pipelines.
- Lead performance management, talent reviews, succession planning, learning and leadership development to build capability, career growth and business continuity.
Rewards, HR Operations & Compliance
- Oversee payroll, compensation and benefits, HR policies, employee lifecycle processes and HR systems, ensuring accurate, competitive and efficient HR services.
- Ensure compliance with Malaysia employment laws, Group policies, ethical standards and health and safety requirements while proactively managing people-related risks.
Culture, Engagement & Corporate Responsibility
- Build an inclusive, high-performing culture and lead employee engagement, internal communication, wellbeing, employee relations and conflict resolution.
- Drive local CSR, sustainability and employee volunteering programmes in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
Team & Workplace Leadership
- Lead and develop the Malaysia HR team of three, setting clear priorities, accountabilities and service standards while overseeing office administration and the workplace environment.
- Collaborate with country functions and the APAC HR community to align regional initiatives, share best practices and deliver business outcomes.
What you have:
- Experience & Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline, with at least 10 years of progressive HR experience and demonstrated leadership responsibility.
- HR Expertise: Broad capability across business partnering, organisation development, talent, performance, rewards, HR operations, employee relations and workforce planning.
- Business Partnership & Change: Strong commercial judgement and experience advising senior leaders, leading change and translating business priorities into practical people solutions.
- Leadership: A credible, people-oriented leader who can build teams, influence stakeholders and balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
- Analytics & Technology: Strong analytical skills and confidence using HR data, systems and technology to support decisions and improve processes.
- Market & Languages: Strong knowledge of Malaysia employment legislation. Experience in retail, premium beauty or a consumer-facing environment is preferred. Fluency in English and Bahasa Melayu is required; Chinese is an advantage.
